"After a very intense year in 2022, CL begun 2023 a bit quieter but still busy.
On Jan 21st we organised a screening of the Power To Change documentary in SE London, which went very well. We followed that on Jan 28th with a Peace Workshop for 18 youth leaders connected to the Violent Reduction Unit, part of the London Mayor's drive to reduce youth violence in London. We had hoped for more engagement, but can see there is work to do in this area and look forward to possible future collaboration ... We're currently running a junior Peace Education Programme (PEP), called Get Creative 4 Peace, on Monday afternoons with a group of young people at a youth club in Brixton. We've had two session so far, and it's going very well. In the pipeline for Power To Change we are: Organising a Power To Change screening with the Police in Brixton, and have already discussed PEP follow-up workshops with the Borough Commander. Waiting to confirm -

Recordings of the Femina Vox - Women's Voices in Peace Education virtual forum hosted by the Global Peace Education Network (GPEN) on International Womens Rights Day, are now available. The full playlist can be found on the GPEN YouTube channel. One of the sessions featured The Prem Rawat Foundation's Peace Education Program, view its recording here. Peace Partners volunteer Geri Andrews attended the online conference, and writes about her experience:
On 7th March, the Global Peace Education Network held a webinar conference in honour of International Women's Day. It was called Femina Vox, Women's Voice, and discussed the key themes of Peace Education and Social Justice for women. Each of the speakers was asked for their opinions and experiences on: What are Women's Rights, and should women be involved in Peace Education? The answers were varied and interesting: it is women themselves who are the main transmitters of culture, who have to keep working to redress the gender imbalance in society, rather than accepting it because this is what has been learned by example. Education needs to be more equal for boys and girls, and there needs to be more opportunities for women and girls in education. Change is needed at personal, institutional and global levels. History shows that societies and communities that have an even balance between men and women, are matriarchal as well as patriarchal, and are happier and more peaceful, in contrast to societies that are disproportionately dominated by male influences. The acknowledgement of women as a necessary and integral presence at all levels of society is a key feature in establishing a peaceful and prosperous culture for all of humanity. Our word cloud graphic summarises in brief some of the points made by people from all over the world, celebrating Women's Rights. ** MORE INFORMATION IS NOW AVAILABLE - see latest news post ** "Please note that the project launch call is at 6pm April 16th, but if you cannot join the call you can still take part.
