Intellectually I knew what to expect, I have probably looked at as many pictures from space as anybody...
But there is no way you can be prepared for the emotional impact... it brought tears to my eyes.

The photo is an overview of the entire sunlit side of the Earth from one million miles away. By combining three separate photographs taken by the Deep Space Climate Observatory satellite, NASA was able to create this stunning image.

I am hopeful that this satellite’s ability to capture images and data of our planet will continue to inspire and inform us with perspectives we could have never before considered.
