PeaceCast TV Peace Day Webcast to Showcase Worldwide Efforts for Peace
LONDON (Aug. 14, 2023) -- PeaceCast TV’s annual video webcast, to promote the International Day of Peace on September 21st, is heating up with content coming in from around the world. Recent contributions curated from England, France, Italy, Malaysia, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Mexico, Colombia, the US and Australia among others will be featured with their own unique country PeaceCast, and freely offered online. Included in this country lineup is the FIRST NATIONS PeaceCast, in recognition of their sovereignty, guardianship of humanity’s natural resources, and protection of the environment.

“Action for Peace,” the United Nations Peace Day theme, reflects the heightened urgency many around the world are feeling to resolve conflicts and live in peace.  These country PeaceCasts exemplify expressions of this human desire for peace by shining light on peace-building efforts, actions large and small, in countries around the world.

PeaceCast TV’s webcast is being promoted by the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP), named “the number one influencer and change agent among peace building institutions worldwide.” Liz Hume, executive director, said, “AfP is a proud supporter of PeaceCast TV 2023 as it strives to promote International Day of Peace...(with) stories about everyday people and organisations working to build peace and prevent conflict, both in faraway places and in neighbourhoods just down the street.”

Also promoting PeaceCast TV is Peace News Network (PNN), a media outlet covering news in conflict areas from a peace building perspective. PNN focuses on inspiring stories “about people taking risks for peace…ordinary people who want non-violent solutions to their political differences.” Peace News founder, Dr. Babak Bahador says, “The challenges for peace-builders today are enormous. The International Day of Peace is a chance to refocus and double our efforts towards ending wars and building positive peace around the globe. We are pleased to partner with PeaceCast TV in this effort.”

Established in 2010, PeaceCast TV is an international, all-volunteer association which scales up to present its annual promotion of Peace Day on September 21st. It uses the YouTube platform to provide a non-religious, non-political video stream that attempts to connect the dots between the fundamental human necessity and hope for peace and its influence on many social issues and fields of human endeavour

LONDON, ENGLAND - June 27, 2023 PeaceCast TV is gearing up once again to provide and make available exceptional video content for the International Day of Peace on September 21st during its annual PeaceCast. This content will be offered free of charge via the PeaceCast TV website and YouTube channel so it can be viewed, shared, uploaded or broadcast online through local and national media outlets.

The theme of this year’s Peace Day, as announced by the United Nations, is “Actions for Peace: Our ambition for the #Global Goals.” It is a call to action that recognises our individual and collective responsibility to foster peace. Thus PeaceCast TV invites civic, corporate, educational and social entities to contribute to PeaceCast 2023 Worldwide with short YouTube videos (under 10 min.) that reflect this theme and showcase efforts to make a positive impact in the world.

New this year, there will be many individual country PeaceCasts, curated by local teams around the world that will feature videos of culturally relevant content for different regions and be made available for their Peace Day celebrations.

If you would like to submit YouTube videos from your organization or country to be considered for this year’s PeaceCast 2023 Peace Day broadcast, please contact Dr. Michelle Spinella using the information above.

“We’ve worked hard for many years and it’s heartening to finally see teams worldwide showcasing their countries’ efforts for peace, rather than the “mainstream news” representation of peace as just the absence of war,” said PeaceCast TV director, Dr.Michelle Spinella.

Established in 2010, PeaceCast TV is an international, all-volunteer association which scales up to present its annual promotion of Peace Day on September 21st. It uses the YouTube platform to provide a non-religious, non-political video stream that attempts to connect the dots between the fundamental human necessity and hope for peace and its influence on many social issues and fields of human endeavour.

COUNTRIES WORLDWIDE ‘PEACECASTING’ ON PEACE DAY 2023

PeaceCast TV is gearing up for this year’s International Day of Peace (Sept 21) with an array of  new ‘in-country curators’, a fresh, updated website, and a new wave of energy driving PeaceCast  2023. This year many individual country PeaceCasts, curated by teams around the world, will showcase videos of culturally relevant content and be made available for Peace Day celebrations.  Along with these country streams, PeaceCast 2023 will also stream its usual international playlist  of humanitarian, environmental and peace-related content, highlighting videos from these  countries.

The curators will source content from YouTube for their country’s unique PeaceCast. Anchoring this innovation are teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of  Ireland. Other countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Malaysia, Australia, and USA will also be “peacecasting.”

PeaceCast TV is an international, all-volunteer association set to scale up their annual promotion  of Peace Day after more than a decade of streaming content to connect the dots between the  fundamental necessity of peace and many social issues and fields of human endeavor. “We’ve  worked hard at our goals for many years and it’s heartening to finally see teams worldwide showcasing their country in the context of peace, rather than the narrow mainstream news  representation of peace as the absence of war,” said PeaceCast TV director, Dr. Michelle Spinella.

“The time feels right post-Covid and the lockdowns with people more aware of their planet and  their fellow citizens. The ‘possibility of peace’ is a theme not just to be celebrated, but to strive  for actively and believe in. We hope to create more awareness of the necessity of peace, now  and for our future. Celebrating the International Day of Peace endeavors to promote this  awareness and to recognize peace builders and peace lovers everywhere – ‘to make peace  visible’.”

POWER TO CHANGE FILM EVENT IN CORNWALL

16/12/2022

Peace Partners are pleased to be affiliated with Peace Talks Cornwall, and are proud to share this report by David Hughes about the success of this event.

In late November, a small volunteer group under the name of Peace Talks Cornwall  (in association with Celebrate Life and Peace Partners) held a screening of ‘Power to Change’, a documentary film crafted by Celebrate Life.

‘Power to Change’ traces the lives of six Londoners who have been affected by knife crime, violence and loss. The film goes on to show how these peoples’ lives have since been transformed, in part, by attending a course (the Peace Education Programme) which inspires greater self awareness and understanding.

An audience of sixty people gathered at the Burrell Theatre, enjoying a reception prior to watching the film and a Question and Answer session afterwards with a panel comprising some of the filmmakers and directors of Celebrate Life, as well as one of the people featured in the film. Most of the audience represented organisations that serve people in the community, particularly young people who face similar issues to those shown in the film, who may fall into crime through the damaging effects of poverty and exclusion.  These organisations were contacted over a period of six months prior to the event before receiving an invitation.

After the screening, the panel were inundated with enthusiastic questions from the floor and the session had to be drawn to a close because of time constraints.

Since the screening a number of people have asked to join a ten week virtual Peace Education Programme, and there is an enquiry for a live Peace Education Programme in a Community Centre in a local town.
