Peace Education Programme (PEP)
'Peace education is the process of acquiring the values, the knowledge and developing the attitudes, skills and behaviours to live in harmony with oneself, with others and with the natural environment.' (UNESCO)

What is the Peace Education Programme?
The Peace Education Programme (PEP) is a media-based educational programme, created by The Prem Rawat Foundation. The purpose is to help participants explore the possibility of personal peace and discover inner resources - innate tools for living such as inner strength. The Programme consists of 10 hours of workshop material focused on a selection of core themes from Prem Rawat’s international addresses. The themes are: Peace, Appreciation, Inner Strength, Self-Awareness, Clarity, Understanding, Dignity, Choice, Hope, & Contentment. Each session includes several video segments, times for reflection and accompanying reading material. There is a workbook for each participant. There are no tests, as the programme is about individual self-discovery - something that is unique for each person. PEP sessions can be held weekly over a 10 week period or arranged to suit the requirements of the hosting organisation.

The main message of the programme is that, while every person has a source of inner peace, many may never explore this innate ability and thus never find it. The Peace Education Programme strives to set its participants on a journey to discover this possibility within themselves. During these sessions, they listen to and watch educational videos, express themselves, and develop a sense of where they are going in their lives and where they want to be in the future. The course content is not culturally biased and has been used successfully in many countries with a variety of cultures and people from all walks of life. Course materials are currently available in 27 languages with further translations underway. Written materials are available in Braille and DVDs with subtitles for the hearing impaired are also available. |

Do you have examples of PEP’s success stories?
Here are just a small sample of testimonials from people who have benefitted from attending the Peace Education Programme. More testimonials can be found in this course evaluation.
"I have attended 16 sessions. When I first attended the PEP class I was very confused and as I was leaving the room that first day I was still confused. But as I walked out through the door, I suddenly felt that this is all about feeling human. What Prem has been teaching is a simple thing, that this is about our life. What he is telling us is that peace is inside us, peace is in me and I will be leaving this class after 16 sessions a happy man. I say to you all, we have to let others know about this, talk to other people and let them know about this class."
"Doubt has always niggled at me, and stops me going forward. Today I feel different, I know I can find my freedom and peace. I can stop doubting and start knowing. I realise that you are the angel you are waiting for - accept your existence. It’s plain and simple and understandable now."
"PEP has helped me really appreciate my life regardless of my circumstances."
“Every day we ignore the fact that we have the power to write our own story. I'm going to leave today with a more focused agenda to write my story day by day."

How do I set up a PEP?
The steps for setting up a PEP are outlined in the How to start a PEP document. You may also express your interest through the PEP help desk: info@peacepartners.co.uk
Where does PEP usually take place?
Ideally PEP is presented to, or hosted by an organisation for its clients, students, members and/or staff. The hosting organisation is usually responsible for requesting the PEP, providing space for the workshops as well as inviting and registering the participants. It also helps to have a host organization that people can relate to. The Peace Education Programme always takes place in public spaces.
New "PEP Supplemental" material is now available. It has the same themes but shorter videos than the original PEP. It can be used as a follow up for people who have completed the original PEP and who wish to attend further workshops with new material. It is also suitable for young people (under 18) as well as for those who may be unable to give their full attention for an entire hour.

The Peace Education programme (PEP) is an ideal vehicle to help fulfil the aim of the Peace Pledge.......
'The Pledge to Peace' was created in Brussels in November 2011 to develop ‘peace and peace education to enhance well-being’ and has been signed by a wide range of educational institutions, organisations, cities and leaders, including the first Vice-President of the European Parliament. Prem Rawat is recognised as one of the main inspirers of the Pledge to Peace and, in June 2014, the Pledge was presented at the Houses of Parliament in London where Prem Rawat addressed the assembly.
