CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OPPORTUNITY Social Impact through Books that support Well-Being Hello, I am Lesley Cooper, and I am raising funds for Bedrock Books. Bedrock Books aims to promote the well-being and positive mental health of vulnerable adults and young people, through the gifting of inspiring and positive books. We choose books which have been found to support well-being, and work in partnership with well-being projects: such as social care institutions, drug and alcohol rehab providers, homeless shelters, prisons and more. I want to raise £30,000 to buy 2000 copies of 'Hear Yourself' by Prem Rawat. ‘Hear Yourself’ is already making a difference in people’s lives. It is currently being sent to inmates in prisons across the UK, and to organisations supporting alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation and mental health, as part of a wider ‘Peace Education Programme’. Here is just one comment from one of our recipients: ‘You have the strength inside to deal with what comes your way. From losing everything (to drink) you can turn inside and become a better person if you choose to make the change.’ But, we have run out of books! Our goal is to make a big impact in a short time. Our target is to raise £30,000 by June 23rd. We want to buy and donate 2,000 copies of ‘Hear Yourself’, by Prem Rawat Benefits to the community Globally, the Peace Education Programme has been shown to produce exceptional benefits, and in particular for incarcerated people. In the UK the programme is being run in 17 prisons and ‘Hear Yourself’ is an important addition to the programme. Our aim is to give a copy to each inmate, client, or programme participant. Benefits to the company Clearly, this kind of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project is important for a company’s front-facing image. And it has positive benefits to staff too, as they feel part of a wider solution in today’s society. Additionally, higher employee engagement scores and positivity mean that it’s a win-win for everyone. Benefits to your staff Employees need a way to escape the noise in our heads, to feel more in touch with ourselves, and be able to find a place of quietude. ‘Hear Yourself’ is the perfect antidote to the distraction brought about by that noise. It is the kind of book that someone can pick up, read a paragraph or two and immediately feel reassured. What we will do with the funds Once the deadline has passed, donated funds will be used to buy as many books as we can. We will send them directly to the facilitators of the Peace Education Programme, who will then give them to inmates in prisons across the UK. They will also be placed directly into prison libraries, given to other social impact organisations, and used in our well-being reading groups. Two Choices Option One: You can simply donate towards 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, or 2,000 books at £15 each. Option Two: Donate and then choose to receive a number of books for your staff in addition to a donation. We will gift back 50% of whatever funds your company donates, in the form of copies of the book. The books will be presented as a gift package, and come with a personal message of well-being and a bookmark. The books will be sent out within one month of the campaign ending. Simply tell us your company and contact name, address and the number of books you require (as you may want less - e.g. if you donated £600 you may want 20 books or less). You can include these details in the donation message field. Thank you.
