Humanitarianism is at the heart of who we are, and with the support of volunteers, donors and charity partners we can help those in need. It’s why we’re delighted to celebrate our five year anniversary on Sunday 11th April 2021. Where it began Our story begins in 2014 when, during a lengthy expedition of India and Nepal, Juli Hammersley saw the transformative power of The Prem Rawat Foundation’s (TPRF) Food for People initiative on local youth and the surrounding communities. She fondly recalls the very tangible impact of food security on childhood development; how school attendance and student performance were improved alongside greater access to warm, nutritious meals. The knock-on benefits could be seen almost immediately, as classrooms continued to grow and the overall health of students’ families were improved by their child’s education. Inspired by the tangible impact of the Food for People initiative on youth and community development, Juli sought to bring these humanitarian values back to the UK, and in 2016 Peace Partners was formed, raising awareness for the development of personal peace and empowerment throughout the country.
Over the next several years and with an ever-expanding network of trustees, volunteers and community partnerships, Peace Partners has grown by leaps and bounds, supporting area food banks, shelters, and peace building workshops that seek to unlock the great potential within. A voice for hope From its inception, Peace Partners’ message of possibility has garnered great praise and positive outcomes, elevating the vulnerable to new heights of personal empowerment. We have been fortunate to facilitate a series of public forums on the importance of peace, reconciliation and healing, with panelist discussions, keynote speakers and presentations, that were simulcast around the globe:
Through it all, Peace Partners continues to provide social and fundraising support for those in need - ensuring that every man, woman and child has the resources they need to realise their full potential.
As the unprecedented events of 2020 swept the nation and indeed the world over, we quickly sought to partner with charitable organisations on the front line of a growing humanitarian crisis. Our fundraising initiatives on behalf of St. Mungo’s and The Trussell Trust became a lifeline for members during a period of great uncertainty. Partnerships
At its core, Peace Partners is, and will always be, a deeply collaborative effort. The name itself reads like an open door, and throughout its five year history has worked to promote and support the work of countless organisation across the country. In commemoration of this momentous occasion, we would like to acknowledge and thank the following partners and connected organisations for their trust, and for supporting our vision to ensure personal peace and resources for all. We are humbled by their generosity, and by the important work they continue to provide the friends and neighbours of this country: Mayors for Peace * Celebrate Life Events * Investors in Peace * peacecast.tv * Begin2Sports Group * Pledge to Peace * St. Mungo’s * The Trussell Trust * Young People Insight * Ubuntu Round Table Project * Centrepoint We would also like to extend our deep gratitude to The Prem Rawat Foundation, whose Peace Education Programme and Food For People facilities continue to guide our humanitarian efforts. As an affiliated partner we are delighted to advocate and support their continued work around peace, prosperity and dignity. Thank you. Mapping a more peaceful future
If the events of this past year have taught us anything it is the speed with which our lives can change. Throughout the many months of lockdowns and video conferencing, of social distancing and telework, Peace Partners has continued to advocate for those in need; to provide resources, support and hope during these uncertain times. Alongside the rest of the world, we have been made to change and adapt as fundraising events and social gathering move further into the digital space; but we are ever-hopeful of a brighter future. We are now, perhaps more than ever in modern history, joined as one human family in the struggle to overcome. With so much great potential for global unity we feel exceedingly fortunate to embark on this next chapter, and to spread the message of peace wherever it's most needed. “There is no time left for anything but to make peace-work a dimension of our every waking activity. I am in awe of what we have achieved, the projects we support, the Peace Partners team, our supporters, donors, partners and the connections we have made. Thank you for 1,825 days of collaborating and working together to make a difference to the lives of many”.
