CELEBRATE KINDNESS DAY

International Kindness Day
Sunday 13th November 2022

This year is the 25th Anniversary of World Kindness Day, which is celebrated on 13th November each year. It was started in 1997 by the World Kindness Movement in Japan and the purpose of the day is to both highlight and encourage good deeds in the community.

Groups and individuals are encouraged to go out of their way to be kind to others, be it at home, work, school or just out and about.

Groups and individuals are encouraged to go out of their way to be kind to others, be it at home, work, school or just out and about.

Every kind act, however small, matters and creates a ripple effect because essentially it is kindness that binds people together. In a world where a lack of kindness can seem so prevalent, it is a relief to be reminded that human nature is compassionate and caring and that being aware of this and putting it into practise in everyday life is to be true to oneself.

Interestingly, the origin of the word kind comes from Old English: ‘gecynd’ meaning natural, innate, native. In its original sense it was used to mean ‘nature, the natural order’ and also ‘innate character form or condition’.

This poem describes kindness as a fundamental quality in human nature:
Kindness, innate in the human heart,
Is an act of care for another,
Natural, as is the love of parent for child.
Devotion is the well-spring from which it flows,
Nourishing giver and receiver alike to feel
Empathy, and see one’s own self in another,
Sensitively expressing a common bond that’s
Shared without thought of gift or reward.

Kindred spirits are we all, kith ‘n kin,
Interconnected through thought, word and deed.

None is exempt from the laws of cause and effect,
Defined as we are by the realm of consciousness.
Nurturing compassion is the remedy that
Elevates mood and lifts an experience by
Satisfying the need for contentment, in the
Service of heartfelt love and affection.

Following Peace Partners' donations earlier this year to The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) initiative to help the victims of war in Ukraine, we have received this letter of thanks from Marci Klein, TPRF's development director, which gives a detailed update on how the funds have been used. You may also be interested in viewing two recent short videos produced by TPRF which provide even more recent updates.

We are very appreciative of the efforts of supporters who have chosen to support this critical initiative through Peace Partners.

Letter of Thanks from The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) regarding the Ukraine appeal

We are delighted to share this recent letter from Marci Klein, TPRF Development Director, about the the funds raised by Peace Partners towards the Ukraine War Victims appeal:
May 15, 2022

Dear Peace Partners,

On behalf of The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF), I would like to thank you for your two recent donations: USD $4,450 wired on February 23 and USD $6,000 wired on April 4. These incredibly generous donations are being used to help Ukrainians suffering from the war.

The Prem Rawat Foundation has partnered with Cesvi and World Central Kitchen to help people in the following ways:

Partnering with Cesvi:
  • Cesvi Foundation has been working to bring support to the population hard hit by the war in Ukraine, with particular attention to people with special needs, such as children, women and the elderly. Working in border towns in Hungary and Romania, Cesvi has been providing shelter and essential needs to refugees. It also continues to assist refugees remaining inside the country.
  • Since the beginning of the conflict, about 2,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been provided including: canned and long-life food, water, medicine, hygiene kits, special products and food for children, mattresses, sleeping bags, power generators and power banks for mobile phones.

Partnering with World Central Kitchen (WCK):
  • As the invasion enters its 3rd month, it's estimated that 11 million people have fled home. In response, WCK has provided over 1.7 million nutritious meals and water to thousands of people at border crossings, shelters, and in refugee camps in 20 cities in Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

Below are three quotes from our partners written to everyone helping with the Ukraine Relief Effort:
  • "TPRF shares our belief that a plate of food is more than just nourishment; it's hope and a sign that someone cares. Their support will allow us to continue to provide fresh and comforting meals." - Jason Collis, WCK Vice President of Relief
  • "Thank you to everyone at TPRF for your generous support. We are honored by your partnership and happy for the help that together we will be able to bring to the field where thousands of people are suffering." - Roberto Vignola, Cesvi Deputy General Manager.
  • "I want to thank the world for coming and giving to a country that isn't theirs. We wouldn't be able to do this without all this help." A World Central Kitchen volunteer cook in Ukraine.

Warm regards,

Marci Klein
Development Director
