CELEBRATE LIFE - UPDATE

​Following our item about Celebrate Life (CL) in our last eBulletin, we have received this very interesting and exciting recent update from Wallee McDonnell which we would like to share:

"After a very intense year in 2022, CL begun 2023 a bit quieter but still busy.

On Jan 21st we organised a screening of the Power To Change documentary in SE London, which went very well. We followed that on Jan 28th with a Peace Workshop for 18 youth leaders connected to the Violent Reduction Unit, part of the London Mayor's drive to reduce youth violence in London. We had hoped for more engagement, but can see there is work to do in this area and look forward to possible future collaboration ...

We're currently running a junior Peace Education Programme (PEP), called Get Creative 4 Peace, on Monday afternoons with a group of young people at a youth club in Brixton. We've had two session so far, and it's going very well.

In the pipeline for Power To Change we are:

Organising a Power To Change screening with the Police in Brixton, and have already discussed PEP follow-up workshops with the Borough Commander.

Waiting to confirm -

• a screening for bereaved mothers who have lost their sons to knife violence
  
• a second screening at East Ham Library (we had a successful one there in December
  
• a screening in Brighton
  
• a screening with Stockwell Community Centre, South London.
