We want to let you know about the changes we’re making in the way our donations are managed. Until now, our website has offered a choice of causes for which a donation will be used. For example people might choose to donate to The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) or to UK Peace projects. But from 1st April our website will no longer offer this choice.
In accounting terms, the resources and time needed to keep separate funds for several specific causes requires a lot of volunteer time and effort, and actually makes our charity’s accounts less transparent. As Peace Partners is a small charity with very limited volunteer time we have therefore made the practical decision to remove the choices on the website so that all donations are directed to ‘Where the Need is Greatest’. For the past five years we have donated funds to TPRF amounting to roughly twice the amounts specified by donors, and in the future we intend to maintain and even strengthen that relationship. Anyone donating to Peace Partners can feel confident that funds will continue to be directed to TPRF, with the added benefit of Gift Aid. And for UK projects, we maintain a healthy balance so we can respond to requests for TPRF’s Peace Education Programme to be delivered in UK communities. Donors choosing that cause can also be confident that Peace Partners will continue to support Peace Education in the UK. From 1st April 2022, all donations to Peace Partners are being treated as part of our General Fund, which will give us the flexibility to use the money to further our charitable aims where need is greatest. One exception will be where we support an urgent humanitarian appeal. All donations to that appeal will be used promptly in response to the humanitarian crisis and, as usual, we will try to add more from our General Fund to boost the impact. We hope this explains these changes and that you will continue your valuable support for Peace Partners. If you have any questions regarding this message, or more generally about Peace Partners' ongoing activities, please do get in touch by emailing [email protected].
