Celebrate Life (CL) formed 10 years ago, and for their first five years put on live, multi-faceted concerts in collaboration with different community groups in London. However, with the advent/explosion of knife crime and violence in London, the team made a decision to switch focus and create something that might be a solution to some of the problems young people are facing in London today. CL began working on a documentary called Power to Change. The documentary addresses the problem of knife crime, and weaves together stories of Londoners who have suffered grief, violence and trauma, yet come through the other side after making better choices. The CL Team believe it is an important film because it looks at a solution which is not often talked about - the innate goodness of a human being, who will make the right choices given the encouragement and tools to do so. The film also brings awareness of the Peace Education Programme, and two of the cast in the film attended sessions of this course while in prison. The film was launched in November 2021 and CL has had 32 screenings since then all over the country, with more to come in 2023. watch the trailer: Peace Partners is hoping to work with Celebrate Life in promoting the film even more widely, whilst helping to raise joint funds for the initiatives of both organisations.
